CNN host Piers Morgan signs off on last episode with thoughts on gun control in the United States.

CNN host Piers Morgan wrapped up the final episode of his show Friday and left viewers with one last thought in opposition to the National Rifle Association.

Morgan asked for U.S. citizens to take action on gun control, but said he respects Americans and quoted his brother, a colonel in the Royal British Army, who said, “You always want an American next to you in a trench when the going gets tough.”

“But that’s where I think guns belong, on a military battlefield” Morgan said. “Not in the hands of civilians.”

“The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly [sic] silence even when 20 children are blown away in their classrooms," he added.

“I’m so pro-American I want more of you to stay alive,” he finished.

Morgan said he "loved every minute" of his show on CNN.

"Well, almost every minute of it."

"Nearly forty months since the show first launched, we thank you all for watching, and in the words of our fearless leader, 'even those who implacably disagreed with me, or just found my funny accent annoying,' " a post on Piers' blog said. "Thank you, and goodnight."
