David Archuleta left his musical career behind for a two-year mission to Chile through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The 23-year-old singer, who became American Idol's seventh-season runner-up back in 2008, announced his return home in a short video posted to his YouTube channel on Monday.

“Hola, everyone! It’s Elder Archuleta here. And I’m home. I’m home," he says in the video, still sporting his missionary's wardrobe.

Archuleta sang as part of his missionary work, performing in multiple concerts at the Santiago Chile Temple.
