James Rebhorn, who played the father of Claire Danes' Carrie Mathison on Homeland, died Friday after a long battle with skin cancer. He was 65.

Rebhorn was diagnosed with melanoma in 1992 and had been under treatment ever since, his wife, Rebecca said.

The disease dramatically worsened and he had been under hospice care in his New Jersey home.

Rebhorn recently appeared in White Collar, and was also in Meet the Parents, Scent of a Woman and Independence Day. He most recently appeared in a theater gig in January.
