The first trailer for the film adaption of the the dystopian thriller The Giver by Lois Lowry has been released, starring Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges.
Streep plays villain Chief Elder, with creepy lines like, "When people have the freedom to choose, they choose wrong."

Bridges plays the Giver, who counsels the "Receiver of Memory" Jonas, played by Brenton Thwaites, after the world is reduced to "sameness."
Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, and Taylor Swift also star in the movie, and it is directed by Phillip Noyce. The movie is set to open Aug. 15.
