LOS ANGELES, March 9 (UPI) -- Susan Sarandon is gearing up to be a first-time grandmother, now that her daughter, Eva Amurri Martino, is expecting a daughter. But she's still getting used to the idea.

"I think that even when I was having a baby myself and even after I had two babies myself, that you can't even grasp the reality of it until that baby is there," the 67-year-old actress told Us Weekly on Friday. "So even though we're very excited and the sonograms are beautiful and we've been shopping, it's still -- I don't think you actually understand until there's a human being there. So we're still in that kind of state, but we're very excited."

Martino confirmed her pregnancy on Twitter last week.

"Who run the world? GIRLS! #BabyGirlMartino," she wrote alongside a photo of baby shoes.

"This baby girl keeps bringing unexpected new girlfriends in to my life! It's so cool! Love me some strong women. #girlsrule," she added Friday. Martino's husband, retired American soccer player Kyle Martino, tweeted:
