LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- Nicki Minaj took part in the recent no-makeup trend on Wednesday when she posted several photos of herself topless and makeup-free on Instagram.

The 31-year-old singer is well-known for her colorful wigs and often elaborate makeup, but has been seen sporting a more natural and understated look in recent months.
Minaj spoke to Glamour last year about her updated look and told the magazine, "I just wanted to tone it down." The singer attributed the change to hairstylist Oscar James, and said that James taught her that "hair doesn't have to be over processed and fried, even when you apply color." Minaj expressed that she's "never been happier," just "feel[s] sexier," and that "less is definitely more."
Minaj is currently working on her third studio album, The Pink Print, set for tentative release this year.
