LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- MTV announced nominees for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards on Thursday morning.

The studio announced earlier this week that late night star Conan O'Brien will host the ceremony. O'Brien confirmed the news on Conan Tuesday night and joked to his audience, "There is only one award and one award that matters!"

Several recent Oscar winners, including Matthew McConaughey and Lupita Nyong'o, are contenders for the ceremony's Golden Popcorn awards. Leonardo DiCaprio, who some feel was snubbed yet again at the Oscars, is nominated for Best Male Performance.

The MTV ceremony may not be as prestigious as the Academy Awards, but winners are chosen by fan votes and reflect public interest. Those disappointed with this year's Academy Awards outcomes can take matters into their own hands and vote for their favorite films and stars here.

A full list of the nominees is also available here.

The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m. EST.
