NEW YORK, March 6 (UPI) -- During an appearance on Howard Stern's radio show on Wednesday, comedian Chelsea Handler talked about a chance encounter she had with suspended New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.

It sounds as if he may have struck out…

According to Handler, Rodriguez approached her with a question: "Chelsea, why do you have to make fun of me all the time?"

She responded: “Get away from me you're disgusting. You're gross."

A-Rod tried to plead his case as if Handler was calling balls and strikes. “Why am I gross? We got off on the wrong foot. I read all of your books. I'm a big fan,” he said.

That’s when Handler brought out the big guns.

“I go, 'I don't know why you're a big fan. I think you're a [expletive]-[expletive].”

Why is that?

“Just the way he conducts himself. He just sleeps around ... He is a pile of [expletive].”
