LOS ANGELES, March 5 (UPI) -- Selena Gomez sure likes her bindis.

The 21-year-old star took to Instagram Tuesday to share a photo of herself sporting the traditional forehead decoration used in South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Gomez first began using bindis in public during her MTV Video Movie Awards performance in April 2013. At the time, several Hindu leaders criticized the singer's "Come and Get It" performance calling it "insensitive," and asked Gomez to refrain from repeating the act.

The singer, however, disregarded the comments and used the Hindu symbol again for her Dancing with the Stars performance the next day.

Earlier this year, Gomez was also spotted wearing a Bindi as she casually stepped out to buy cigarettes following her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber's arrest.
