LOS ANGELES, March 3 (UPI) -- Academy voters may feel lukewarm about Leonardo DiCaprio, but at least he has Twitter's support.

The Wolf of Wall Street star lost out on his fourth acting Academy Award on Sunday, after decades of well-received work and three previous nominations for The Aviator, Blood Diamond and What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

Buzzfeed captured the exact moment Jennifer Lawrence announced Matthew McConaughey's name:

McConaughey, who also appeared in Wolf of Wall Street but won for Dallas Buyers Club, gave DiCaprio a conciliatory hug before he went onstage to accept his Oscar. DiCaprio congratulated his colleague with a kiss on the cheek.

DiCaprio made have played it cool, but fans on social media immediately came to his defense. Hastags like "#PoorLeo" and "GiveLeoAnOscar" trended for hours after the ceremony.

There's always next year Leo!
