Disney kicks off streaming movie service with 'Frozen' digital release

BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- The 2013 smash hit Frozen is one of the many films now available on Disney's new movie streaming service.

Disney Movies Anywhere makes its debut just in time for Frozen's digital release, and the iTunes-powered service is currently accessible on the web, iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. There are over 400 Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies available for people to purchase for streaming or download, and the service offers exclusive content and bonus features in addition to the films themselves.

Those who own Disney DVDs and Blue-rays will be able to use the new service to redeem their discs' digital download codes. The discs have come with redeemable codes since 2008.

Disney Movies Anywhere is Disney's second attempt at a digital film service. Their first attempt, Disney Movies Online, proved unsuccessful and was shut down in December 2012. Disney Movies Anywhere seeks to correct many of the original service's flaws, and includes the ability to stream movies across multiple devices.

As a special perk, Disney is currently offering a free digital copy of The Incredibles to users who connect their Disney Movie Anywhere and iTunes accounts.
