'Inferno' tops list of Amazon best-sellers in 2013

SEATTLE, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- The Florence-set mystery "Inferno" by Dan Brown was the best-selling book of 2013, the U.S. online retailer Amazon.com announced.

Coming in at No. 2 on the list is "And the Mountains Echoed" by Khaled Hosseini, followed by "The Cuckoo's Calling" by J.K. Rowling, writing under the pen name of Robert Galbraith, at No. 3, "The Husband's Secret" at No. 4 and "Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead" by Sheryl Sandberg at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier are "The Hit" by David Baldacci at No. 6, "Sycamore Row" by John Grisham at No. 7, "Entwined with You" by Sylvia Day at No. 8, "Never Go Back" at No. 9 and "The Storyteller" by Jodi Picoult at No. 10.

"Last year's best-seller list was filled with 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and contemporary romance, but, in 2013, mysteries and thrillers captured readers attention, with 11 of the top 20 books falling in that category," Sara Nelson, editorial director of books and Kindle at Amazon.com, said Monday in a statement.
