Japan Expo in Paris draws cosplayers [PHOTOS]

Some 230,000 people were expected to flock to Paris over the weekend for the 14th annual Japan Expo where a major Pokemon announcement was made.

The four-day festival was being held Thursday through Sunday at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center.

Visitors perused displays devoted to latest in anime, comic books and video games from Japan and cosplayers dressed up as brightly colored pop icons and anime characters.

Junichi Masuda, director at Game Freak, a video game developer, announced the introduction of a new Pokemon for Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.

The new Pokemon is called Honedge and is a ghost-type and steel-type possessed sword. The Pokemon can drain energy from other beings.
