Jackson family: Paris is improving

LAS VEGAS, June 30 (UPI) -- The family of Paris Jackson, the troubled daughter of the late U.S. pop star Michael Jackson, said she's making improvements in her treatment for depression.

Several members of the Jackson family gathered Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the premiere of "Michael Jackson ONE," the new Cirque du Soleil show.

After the show, Paris' uncle, Jackie Jackson told E! News his niece is "doing wonderful right now."

"She's getting better. She should be out soon," he added.

Another uncle, Marlon Jackson, had similar words of encouragement for the troubled teen.

"We wish her a speedy recovery," he said. "We love her. After all that she's gone through, losing a father -- that's hard on a youngster. So she's staying strong."

Paris, 15, was hospitalized at California's UCLA Medical Center since June 5 when she cut her arm with a kitchen knife and ingested numerous Motrin pills.

She is expected to move from UCLA to another treatment center soon and could be there for three months, TMZ said.
