'Vanya,' 'Matilda' win top Drama Desk Awards

NEW YORK, May 20 (UPI) -- Broadway's "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" and "Matilda" won the Drama Desk Awards for Best Play and Best Musical in New York.

"Pippin" was declared Best Revival of a Musical and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" took the prize for Best Revival of a Play at Sunday's ceremony at The Town Hall in Manhattan.

Tracy Letts won the award for Outstanding Actor in a Play for his performance in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and Cicely Tyson the Outstanding Actress in a Play mantle for "The Trip to Bountiful."

Billy Porter was named Outstanding Actor in a Musical for his work in "Kinky Boots" and the

Outstanding Actress in a Musical trophy went to

Laura Osnes, star of Rodgers + Hammerstein's "Cinderella."
