TOKYO, April 28 (UPI) -- The crown prince and princess of Japan Sunday headed to the Netherlands to attend the coronation of the new Dutch king, officials said.

This is Masako's first official overseas trip in 11 years; she has been suffering from a "stress-induced illness" since 2002, officials said.

The princess's only scheduled appearances will be at a banquet Monday organized by Dutch Queen Beatrix, who is stepping down, and the coronation ceremony for Prince Willem-Alexander Tuesday, the Imperial Household Agency said. Any other appearances she makes will be decided after consulting the doctors accompanying the couple on the trip.

Along with the banquet and coronation, Naruhito is scheduled to attend a reception after the coronation, a floating parade, a reception by the royal family, and a breakfast hosted by the Dutch king and queen for the guests Wednesday.

The prince and princess will return to Japan Friday.
