Hollywood star Clark Gable's son arrested for DUI
MALIBU, Calif., April 3 (UPI) -- John Clark Gable, the 52-year-old son of the late screen icon Clark Gable, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, say police in Malibu, Calif.
Gable was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly rear-ended a vehicle near the Malibu Pier, then hit six parked cars along the Pacific Coast Highway, with his white Ford Raptor, reported KTLA-TV, Los Angeles.
Gable was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The celebrity offspring was in the news last April after his 41-year-old girlfriend, celebrity makeup artist Christiane Candice Lange, was found dead at their home of an accidental prescription drug overdose.
Gable's father, Clark, is famous for his roles in "It Happened One Night," "Mutiny on the Bounty," "Gone with the Wind" and "The Misfits." He died of a blood clot after a heart attack in 1960 at the age of 59. John Clark Gable was born four months after his father's death.
NBC says Fallon to replace Leno in spring 2014
LOS ANGELES, April 3 (UPI) -- Jay Leno publicly congratulated Jimmy Fallon after NBC confirmed Wednesday Fallon will replace Leno as host of "The Tonight Show" in New York in spring 2014.
"Congratulations, Jimmy," said Leno, who has been "Tonight" emcee for 22 years in Burbank, Calif. "I hope you're as lucky as me and hold on to the job until you're the old guy. If you need me, I'll be at the garage."
"Jay Leno is an entertainment icon, making millions of people laugh every weeknight for more than 20 years," NBCUniversal Chief Executive Officer Steve Burke said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "His long reign as the highest-rated late-night host is a testament to his work ethic and dedication to his viewers and to NBC. We are purposefully making this change when Jay is No. 1, just as Jay replaced Johnny Carson when he was No. 1. Jimmy Fallon is a unique talent and this is his time. I'm thrilled he will become the sixth host of 'The Tonight Show' at exactly the right moment, in conjunction with our coverage of next year's Winter Olympic Games from Sochi, Russia."
"I'm really excited to host a show that starts today instead of tomorrow," Fallon, 38, said.
The announcement ended weeks of speculation regarding who will replace Leno, 62, and when -- as well as whether Leno's departure was his idea or NBC's.
The network previously booted Leno as host of "Tonight" at the end of the 2008-09 season, despite high ratings, and gave the position to "Late Night" host Conan O'Brien to keep O'Brien from moving to another network, and to court younger viewers in the same time slot.
NBC then offered Leno a nightly, hourlong, 10 p.m. series, which kicked off in September 2009.
But when the prime time "Jay Leno Show" failed to be a strong lead-in for local news broadcasts, NBC announced it would push Leno's show back to 11:35 p.m., shorten it to 30 minutes and air "Tonight" at 12:05 a.m. However, O'Brien said he would not remain on "Tonight" if it was bumped to 12:05 a.m. and left the network, paving the way for Leno's return as "Tonight" host in the traditional 11:35 p.m. time slot in March 2010.
O'Brien now heads up his own chat show "Conan" on TBS, which announced Monday it has renewed the show through November 2015.
Rolling Stones announces North American, British tour dates
LONDON, April 3 (UPI) -- The Rolling Stones announced on its website Wednesday plans for a "50 and Counting" North American and British concert tour.
"Everyone was a bit reluctant to say how keen they were to go back on the road," said guitarist Ronnie Wood in a video clip posted on the band's website.
"But you kind of knew it was going to happen," added guitarist Keith Richards.
"When you get back together again, you have so many years of experience, it's easy to restart," lead singer Mick Jagger said. "The communication between me and [drummer Charlie Watts] and Keith and Ronnie is really quite easy."
"All the magic comes back when we get back together," Wood said.
The 11-show "50 and Counting" tour is to begin in Los Angeles in the coming weeks but an exact date hasn't been determined.
The tour is to wrap up in London July 6.
The band's most recent major concert tour ended in 2007.
Timberlake's '20/20' tops U.S. album chart
LOS ANGELES, April 3 (UPI) -- Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience" is No. 1 on the U.S. album chart for a second week, Billboard.com reported Wednesday.
Coming in at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 is Lil Wayne's "I Am Not a Human Being II," followed by Blake Shelton's "Based On a True Story" at No. 3, OneRepublic's "Native" at No. 4 and Alan Jackson's "Precious Memories: Volume II" at No. 5.
Rounding out the top tier are Depeche Mode's "Delta Machine" at No. 6, P!nk's "The Truth About Love" at No. 7, Imagine Dragons' "Night Visions" at No. 8, Bruno Mars' "Unorthodox Jukebox" at No. 9 and the Strokes' "Comedown Machine" at No. 10.
