NEW YORK, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Bill Pullman is to replace outgoing cast member Daniel Stern in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of "The Other Place," producers said Friday.

Pullman, star of TV's "1600 Penn," as well as the films "Bottle Shock," "Sleepless in Seattle" and "Spaceballs," will assume the role of Ian, starting Feb. 5 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Stern will play his final performance in the role Feb. 3.

"Stern is leaving the production due to family matters in California that require his early departure from the show," MTC said in a news release.

"The Other Place" is a new play by Sharr White set to run through March 3. The production also stars Laurie Metcalf, her real-life daughter Zoe Perry and John Schiappa. In it, Metcalf plays a brilliant research scientist battling dementia. Pullman will play her husband.
