Sequel to 'The Shining' to be published

NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- American author Stephen King announced on his website a sequel to his classic horror novel "The Shining" is to be published next year.

King said Tuesday "Doctor Sleep" will be published Sept. 24, 2013, by Scribner and Hodder & Stoughton.

He offered no details regarding the plot or characters of the follow-up to his 1977 novel, which was adapted by the late director Stanley Kubrick in 1980 as a film starring Jack Nicholson.
