SHERMAN HEMSLEY: Television star Sherman Hemsley died from a cancerous mass on his lung, an autopsy conducted by the El Paso County Texas Medical Examiner revealed Tuesday.
The star of "The Jeffersons," "All in the Family," "Amen" and "Dinosaurs" was found dead in his home last month. He was 74. Officials had said at the time it was a natural death with no foul play suspected, but they didn't disclose the cause.
TMZ said the primary cause of his death was determined to be superior vena cava syndrome and is listed as such on the autopsy report released Tuesday.
The document noted Sherman previously had been advised to get chemo- and radiation therapy to treat his illness.
The celebrity news Web site did not say when he was diagnosed with cancer or whether he had listened to his doctors and undergone treatment for the disease.
GILLIAN ANDERSON: Gillian Anderson's publicist says the U.S. actress has broken up with Mark Griffiths, the father of her two sons.
People.com confirmed Tuesday the pair have ended their six-year-long relationship, which produced their sons Oscar, 5, and Felix, 3.
No reason was given for the split.
Best known for her work on TV's "The X Files," Anderson was previously divorced twice and has a daughter from her first marriage.
JOSS WHEDON: Joss Whedon will write and direct the sequel to his Hollywood blockbuster "The Avengers," Variety reported Tuesday.
Disney chief Bob Iger announced the decision, adding Whedon also will develop a live-action Marvel Comics-themed TV show for ABC.
Before he made "The Avengers," which earned nearly $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office this year, Whedon was best known for his TV work, particularly his witty supernatural show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and space western "Firefly."
Variety said the next installment in the "Avengers" superhero franchise is expected to debut in 2015.
KRISTEN STEWART: A woman who resembles Kristen Stewart has taken to the Internet to explain why the Hollywood actress cheated on beau Robert Pattinson.
Laura McDonald posted a 4 1/2-minute video of herself impersonating Stewart Saturday, the New York Daily News reported.
As of Tuesday afternoon, it had gotten more than 700,000 hits.
"Hi Rob, it's me, KStew," she says in the video. "I want to explain what I did. You know, the whole having sex with my director thingy. I'm putting this video on YouTube because I want just you to see it."
Stewart and her married "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders publicly admitted last month they had an affair and apologized to their respective romantic partners for their behavior.
Stewart and Pattinson, who dated for about five years, are the stars of the "Twilight" film franchise.
