Prince William shy on 'Kiss Cam' encounter

LONDON, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince William apparently does not like public displays of affection caught electronically on big screens at big sports stadiums.

William famously was cajoled by the cheering public to kiss his new bride, Kate, a second time on the balcony at Buckingham Palace during the royal wedding last year. But at the London Olympics, the couple have tried to stay out of the limelight and prefer the attention remain on the athletes, the BBC reports.

That especially includes any "Kiss Cam" encounters at the Olympics.

"I was absolutely dreading they were going to come and show myself and my wife that would have been very embarrassing," William said at London's Olympic Velodrome, where Scottish cyclist Sir Chris Hoy won a gold in the men's team sprint.

William and his brother, Harry, are Olympic ambassadors for the Games and their cousin Zara Phillips won a silver medal as part of the British equestrian team.
