'Spider-Man' musical marks year on B'way

NEW YORK, June 14 (UPI) -- "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," a musical starring Reeve Carney as the web-slinging superhero, celebrated its one-year anniversary on Broadway Thursday.

"Reaching this milestone is made so much sweeter by the knowledge that we'll be marking the occasion alongside the show's diehard fans," producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris said in a joint statement. "Without such enthusiasm for the production, there is no way we'd be here celebrating."

The production has been seen by more than 1 million audience members from around the world in the past year.

The $70 million show began preview performances Nov. 28, 2010. It later closed for three weeks so its creative team could work out technical bugs and story issues. It officially opened last June and has been a hot ticket ever since.
