RONNIE MONTROSE: Rock musician Ronnie Montrose's death last month from a gunshot wound to the head has been declared a suicide, the San Mateo County coroner said.
The guitarist was 64 when he died March 6. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007.
E! News confirmed the cause of his death Wednesday.
"By now, the devastating truth of Ronnie's death is public knowledge," said a statement posted by Montrose's family on his Web site. "We hope you can understand why we wanted to keep this news a private family matter for as long as possible. We can only hope that you will choose to celebrate Ronnie's life, and what his music meant to you, rather than his passing. Ronnie would have wanted it that way."
Montrose is known for his collaborations with Sammy Hager, Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs and Herbie Hancock.
ROBIN GIBB: Robin Gibb canceled his appearance at a Titanic-themed concert in London because he is hospitalized with pneumonia, his son said.
Gibb, a former member of the Bee Gees pop group, and his son, Robin-John, composed a classical piece called the "Titanic Requiem," which was performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Westminster Central Hall to mark this weekend's 100th anniversary of the sinking of the famous ocean liner on its maiden voyage.
Father and son were to attend Tuesday's show and the elder Gibb, 62, also was scheduled to sing his new song, "Don't Cry Alone," the BBC said.
His hospitalization was announced at the beginning of the concert and a message read aloud from his son said Robin Gibb "sends all his love," the BBC reported.
"We are all praying for him and hoping he has a speedy recovery," the message from R.J. Gibb said.
Robin Gibb has been battling cancer and recently underwent intestinal surgery.
HOWARD STERN: New "America's Got Talent" panelist Howard Stern says he will be the gold standard and judges from "American Idol" could learn from him.
Asked on TV's "Inside Edition" for his opinion regarding "Idol" panelist Jennifer Lopez's abilities as a judge, Stern replied: "America will get to see me as a judge. I think I'll be the gold standard. I think Jennifer Lopez, Randy [Jackson] and Steve [Tyler] need to watch the show and learn. That's all."
Stern said Lopez, in particular, must be more constructive.
"Jennifer is laughing at herself," he said. "She's a beautiful looking woman, but she's hired to be a judge. Certainly, she must hear, that some of the people are not singing that well. And you got to be willing to say it. It's constructive. There's nothing better than telling someone who can't sing that it's time to get another job."
SHERRI SHEPHERD: Television personality Sherri Shepherd and her professional dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy have been voted off "Dancing with the Stars" in Los Angeles.
"I just want to say thank you for letting me live a dream I've always had," a tearful Shepherd said after learning her fate Tuesday night.
"I had the most amazing partner, Val Chmerkovskiy," she said. "That thing that scares you the most, run towards it because it's so amazing on the other side ... . I had the most amazing time."
Shepherd is an actress, stand-up comedian and co-host of "The View." She also is a former cast member of the sitcoms "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Less Than Perfect."
Still in the running for the coveted mirror-ball trophy, along with their professional dance partners, are actress Melissa Gilbert, actor Jaleel White, football player Donald Driver, "Extra" host Maria Menounos, Disney Channel star Roshon Fegan, actor-model William Levy, and singers Gladys Knight, Gavin DeGraw and Katherine Jenkins.
