LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- California-based pop singer Katy Perry has lashed out at her parents via Twitter for speaking about her divorce from comedian Russell Brand.

"Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, "close sources" or my family," Perry tweeted Saturday.

Perry's parents, Keith and Mary Hudson, who are ministers at Church On The Rise in Westlake, Ohio, said earlier this week the split was a blessing from God, resulting in more people going to church, TMZ.com reported.

"I'm sure Katy is trending on the Internet just to get you to church tonight. I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012," Mary Hudson said to a congregation Wednesday.

"What has taken place in my daughter's life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people. God has given us a platform to go in and meet people -- and they like us because we are cool. We are not threatening," Keith Hudson said.

Before Perry's jab at her parents, the star tweeted she was " grateful for all the love and support" from her fans and that her heart is "happy again."
