Bieber and Gomez make pet shelter stop

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Pop star Justin Bieber stopped at an animal rescue shelter in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with his singer-actress girlfriend Selena Gomez.

Store owner D'Arcy Johnston would not confirm rumors Gomez left the shelter with a puppy Friday, the Winnipeg Free Press reported.

"It was nice to meet them. They're nice kids," he said, while noting he had promised to respect the couple's privacy and wouldn't divulge details of their visit.

Other stops the two made while in Winnipeg included a downtown Tim Hortons restaurant on Friday and renting out an entire movie theater to see the action film "Real Steel" Thursday.

"I had a great day here in Winnipeg. I can't wait to see y'all tomorrow!!" Gomez tweeted Thursday.

"Feels good to be back in #Canada — missed home," Bieber had tweeted Thursday.

Bieber was in Winnipeg for a concert Friday night at the MTS Center.
