Actress sues IMDb for posting age

SEATTLE, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- A 40-year-old actress from Texas is suing the Internet Movie Database and its parent company Amazon for revealing her age on the movie Web site.

The suit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in Seattle, claims IMDB violated her privacy by cross-referencing public records against her credit card information to determine her age and breached the terms of the Subscriber Agreement and Privacy Policy by posting her age on her IMDbPro profile without her consent, Entertainment Weekly reported Tuesday.

The actress, who is withholding her name for fear of recrimination, said repeated requests to have the information removed were denied.

The actress, who says she looks younger than her age, says her livelihood has been compromised and is seeking $75,000 in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages, plus attorney's fees, Entertainment Weekly said.
