'Spiderman' Robert scales Bucharest hotel

BUCHAREST, Romania, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Folks in Bucharest say they were pretty impressed as they watched "French Spiderman" Alain Robert scale the outside of a hotel in the Romanian capital.

The 48-year-old daredevil Friday added the 22-story Hotel Intercontinental to his roster of more than 100 skyscrapers he has scaled over the years.

"It was quite spectacular, but I would have liked to see him go all the way to the top," one woman told Radio France International while watching Robert with her 4-year-old daughter and about 200 other onlookers.

Robert didn't make it to the pinnacle of the Intercontinental, but he stopped near the top to unfurl a banner advertising a Romanian retailer.

Robert has made it to the top of a number of high-profile landmarks over the years, including the Sears Tower in Chicago and Shanghai's 88-story Jin Mao Building.
