JOHN WOOD: British actor John Wood has died in his sleep, his agent said. He was 81.

"John was a distinguished classical actor, who was much loved and respected by his colleagues, and will be greatly missed," his representative said in a statement confirming Wood's Saturday death to the BBC Tuesday.

The cause of his death was not specified.

The actor's film credits include "Love in a Cold Climate," "War Games," "Ladyhawke," "Lady Jane," "The Madness of King George," "Shadowlands," "Sabrina," "An Ideal Husband" and "Chocolat." He also appeared in the TV programs "Lewis," "Goodnight Mr. Chips," "Foyle's War," "Love in a Cold Climate" and "Kavanagh QC."

Wood was made a commander of the British Empire in 2007 for services to drama. He won a Tony Award for his work in the 1976 Broadway production of Tom Stoppard's "Travesties."

The BBC said Wood is survived by his wife and four children.

VINCE NEIL: A Las Vegas judge has granted a request by Vince Neil's lawyer to postpone the start of the rocker's trial on a battery charge, officials said.

The 50-year-old Motley Crue singer was to go on trial this week for allegedly poking his ex-girlfriend in the chest during a show at the Las Vegas Hilton last March.

The Las Vegas Sun said his attorney asked the court for an "emergency continuance," which was granted even though the circumstances of the emergency were not related.

The trial is set to begin Nov. 7, the newspaper said.

JAMIE OLIVER: Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver says his Jamie's Italian restaurant in Birmingham, England, was heavily damaged in this week's riots.

"Sadly my restaurant in Birmingham got smashed up windows all gone whole area closed, cant open, staff and customers all safe!!" E! News reported Oliver said via Twitter Tuesday.

"So sad to see whats happening in UK with these Riots!all gone mad !time to get our country back now we need 2 come down hard on these idiots," he wrote.

Oliver said his Recipease cooking school in the Clapham Junction section of London was left untouched, however, E! News said.

DANE COOK: Roadside Attractions says is has acquired the U.S. rights to "Answers to Nothing" and plans to release the Dane Cook drama in theaters this December.

Directed by Matthew Leutwyler, "Answers" is described in press materials as "a gritty drama of interweaving stories set in Los Angeles against the backdrop of a child kidnapping case."

Co-starring Elizabeth Mitchell, Julie Benz and Barbara Hershey, the movie is set for release Dec. 2. It is based on an original story by Leutwyler, who wrote the screenplay with Gillian Vigman.

"This is the most personal film I have ever made so getting it in the hands of a company like Roadside is a dream come true. They have an amazing track record with thought-provoking independent movies and I am thrilled that they believe in our film as much as we do," Leutwyler said in a statement Tuesday.

"It's great to see Dane in an unexpected dramatic role, and he hits it out of the park in this strong film," added Cohen, co-president of Roadside Attractions.

Cook is a standup comedian who has appeared in the films "Employee of the Month," "Good Luck Chuck" and "My Best Friend's Girl."
