Stars react to bin Laden death on Twitter

LOS ANGELES, May 2 (UPI) -- Arnold Schwarzenegger, Snoop Dogg and Bill Maher were among the celebrities who posted on Twitter their reactions to the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.

U.S. President Barack Obama announced late Sunday the al-Qaida leader had been killed by U.S. forces nearly a decade after orchestrating terror attacks on the United States.

"I'm proud of our men and women in uniform. Wherever you are, take a minute to say thank you to one of the brave heroes who serve our country," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Schwarzenegger, actor and former California governor, as saying via Twitter.

"Somali pirates, Gadafi's son, now bin Laden -- do not [expletive] with Obama, he's Gangsta!!" talk-show host Maher quipped.

"Got Bin Laden AND interrupted Celebrity Apprentice? Win for Obama all around," comedian Jimmy Fallon Tweeted.

Actor Neil Patrick Harris posted the message: "Everyone is sitting around my living room, mouths agape. Wow, what a night. Thank you, Mr. President, for such an eloquent speech."

"My brother has been a US soldier for over 20 years," model, producer and TV personality Tyra Banks said on Twitter. "Today I salute him and all of our brave, selfless military women and men."

The Hollywood Reporter said filmmaker Spike Lee posted, "President Obama 'May God Bless you and May God Bless The United States of America.'"

"HOLD UP THE HEAD, BARACK. [And play Europe's 'The Final Countdown],'" joked actor-comedian Patton Oswalt.

Singer Brad Paisley said, "I really love these rare moments when we feel like one united country."

"Bring the soldiers bac home asap! They r missed! We love how they fight for us now let's fight for them!!" urged hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg.

"It is a GREAT day 4 America & I'm PROUD 2 b an American!" pop star Katy Perry Tweeted.

"Kinda creeped out that Hitler was also announced dead on May 1st. Spooky," said singer Michelle Branch.

Oprah Winfrey sent this message: "Trying to decide what to do about tomorrow's show with [Obama] that was taped last week. War is definitely not over," UsMagazine.com reported.
