RICKY GERVAIS: British comedian Ricky Gervais says he "probably won't" serve as host of the Golden Globes again after insulting numerous stars this go-around.

During the Sunday event celebrating 2010's best of film and television, Gervais poked fun at Charlie Sheen, Robert Downey Jr., Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp's movie "The Tourist," two unnamed famous Scientologists and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which presents the Globes.

"It's going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking or, as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast," Gervais said in his opening monologue, referring to the TV's star's recent high-profile, substance-abuse problems. "Wow, so let's get this straight, so what he did was, he picked up a porn star, paid her to have dinner with him, introduced her to his ex-wife -- as you do -- went to a hotel, got drunk, got naked, trashed the place while she was locked in a cupboard, and that was a Monday. What does he do New Year's Eve?"

Gervais later took out Jolie, Depp, their movie and the foreign reporters in one swoop, joking: "It was a big year for 3D movies -- 'Toy Story,' 'Despicable Me,' 'Tron.' It seemed like everything this year was three-dimensional. Except the characters in 'The Tourist.' I already feel bad about that joke. I tell you what, I'm jumping on the bandwagon because I haven't even seen 'The Tourist.' Who has? But it must be good because it's nominated, so shut up, OK? And I'd like to crush this ridiculous rumor that the only reason 'The Tourist' was nominated was so that the foreign press could hang out with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. That was not the only reason; they also accepted bribes."

Gervais also mentioned the drug and arrest record of Downey, who says he has been sober for numerous years, referred to Bruce Willis as actor Ashton Kutcher's dad and said the head of the foreign press association needed help getting off the toilet and putting in his teeth before the telecast.

"There were a lot of big films that didn't get nominated this year, nothing for 'Sex and the City 2,'" Gervais said, again taking aim at multiple targets. "No, I was sure the Golden Globe for special effects would go to the team that airbrushed that poster. Girls, we know how old you are. I saw one of you in an episode of 'Bonanza.'"

Gervais told USA Today the foreign press association invited him to return as host for the 2011 prize presentation before he was even finished presiding over the 2010 edition of the show.

However, The Hollywood Reporter said as of Sunday night he hadn't been asked to return for the 2012 awards ceremony.

"That's ominous, isn't it?" Gervais mused. "So I probably won't be here next year."

And if he is invited back?

"I'll go (expletive) mental," The Hollywood Reporter quoted him as saying.

Gervais is the co-creator and star of "Extras" and the original, British version of "The Office."

ANNE HATHAWAY: Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has been hired to be a guest star on the music-themed comedy series "Glee," the TV show's executive producer said.

Brad Falchuck told UsMagazine.com Hathaway will play the lesbian aunt of the show's gay character, Kurt.

"It was her idea, and (with) someone like her, it's sort of hard to say no!" Falchuck said. "We don't generally get excited about guest stars just for the sake of guest stars, but when you have someone like Gwyneth (Paltrow) or Anne Hathaway, where you can say, 'They are amazing' ... they are big gifts to you."

Paltrow appeared on "Glee" earlier this season and sang several songs.

Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt, said he can't wait to work with Hathaway, star of "The Princess Diaries," "The Devil Wears Prada," "Becoming Jane" and "Love & Other Drugs."

"Anne Hathaway lesbian -- that sentence is awesome!" he told UsMagazine.com. "I am very much looking forward to that."

"Glee" won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series and Colfer for Best Supporting Actor in a TV series, miniseries or TV movie Sunday night.

LIAM McINTYRE: Australian film and TV actor Liam McIntyre has been hired to replace ailing "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" star Andy Whitfield, Starz said.

The casting announcement for the drama's second season was made Monday by the cable network's president and chief executive officer, Chris Albrecht.

Whitfield is battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and left the series after one season to focus on his health.

"Since no one can really replace Andy, we realized that we should instead find an actor who can truly lead 'Spartacus' forward," Albrecht said in a statement. "It was important to us to have Andy endorse the idea of recasting this part, which he did in the same heroic manner that he's dealt with his whole ordeal. And that, coupled with our fortune in finding a young actor with the gladiator credentials and the acting ability of Liam, makes it easier for us to keep this hit franchise going."

McIntyre is known for his work in the Australian TV shows "Neighbours" and "Rush." He also appeared in the HBO mini-series "The Pacific."

Production on "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" is slated to resume this spring.
