BOCA RATON, Fla., Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Donald Silverman, comedian Sarah Silverman's dad, says his hobby is skewering rich people everywhere, but especially in Boca Raton, Fla., where he has a home.
Silverman, a New Hampshire resident, has about 7,000 followers on his Twitter account, where he regularly lampoons the rich, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
Among his posts:
-- Sign in member's parking lot at Boca Resort. Cars valued under $60,000 will be towed at owner's expense.
-- What's the matter with Waren Buffet. All that money and he drives a Lincoln Continental. He's obviously not from Boca.
-- Latest Boca rage. Air Brush tanning. They spray the tan on. It goes so well with the fake blond hair and the plastic surgery.
"I am really a reverse materialistic snob," Silverman said. "I've always lived about $3 million away from the ocean."
Boca Raton social engagement consultant Craig Agranoff said Silverman is an example of a growing trend in social media.
"It's passive-aggressive social media," Agranoff said. "The reason so many people love it is because they can relate to exactly what he's saying."
Silverman said he wants to prod his wealthy neighbors into being more generous.
"I separate the ocean people from the people who live at Boca Country Club," Silverman said. "Our claim to fame is that we live across the street from Costco."
Silverman said not many of the "ocean people" he aims his barbs at respond, and not everyone gets the point of his messages.
"I've used things the entitled people have actually said to me," Silverman said of his posts. "It seems to me that everyone should get it, but they don't. A lot of people don't."
