NEW YORK, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman will return to Broadway in 2011 after a 12-year absence to star in a revival of Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of Youth."

Kidman will play Alexandra Del Lago, "an aging, drunken and sexually voracious movie star," the New York Post reported Friday.

The play will be produced by Scott Rudin and directed by David Cromer. No actor has yet been named to play the male lead, gigolo Chance Wayne, a role originated on Broadway by Paul Newman in 1959.

Kidman last appeared on Broadway in David Hare's "The Blue Room," which ran from 1998 to 1999 at the Cort Theatre.
