Jolie visits Pakistani refugee camps

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. actress and U.N. Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie is visiting relief camps in Pakistan to highlight the plight of flood victims, the organization said.

Jolie's itinerary included visits to the flood-hit areas of Pakistan Tuesday and Wednesday as a personal envoy of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, GEO News reported.

Besides visiting with victims, the Oscar-winning actress will meet with people involved in relief efforts, the non-governmental organization said. She also used the visit to appeal to the global community to help provide aid to the flood victims.

The monsoon-driven floods first hit Pakistan in July, affecting millions.
