'Girls Gone Wild' creator getting hitched

NEW YORK, July 3 (UPI) -- "Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis has proposed a domestic civil partnership to his girlfriend, CBS entertainment reporter Christina McLarty said.

"We have chosen to have a civil domestic partnership because we don't believe it's appropriate to be married until our gay and lesbian friends are afforded the same rights as us to legally marry in the United States," Francis, 37, told The New York Post.

McLarty, who accepted Francis' proposal while the couple were vacationing in St. Tropez, is the niece of former Clinton White House chief of staff Mack McLarty.

Francis promised the ceremony, to take place before 200 guests at his Mexican beachfront estate, will be "luxurious and filled with lots of surprises."

"This will be a nontraditional celebration of love, family and friends," Francis said.

Composer arranger Quincy Jones will serve as best man.
