3 hurt in setup for Elton John concert
MERIDA, Mexico, April 2 (UPI) -- Three workers were hurt while building a stage for Saturday's Elton John concert at the Chichen Itza ruins in Mexico, officials said.
The BBC said the British pop star was not at the site when the mishap occurred and the weekend show is expected to go ahead as planned.
Two men reportedly sustained minor injuries, while a third broke his leg when lighting rails fell onto the stage area.
Authorities told the British broadcaster the Mayan ruins were not damaged during the incident.
Report: Sheen to leave TV's 'Men'
LOS ANGELES, April 2 (UPI) -- Charlie Sheen plans to leave the U.S. sitcom "Two and a Half Men" after the current seventh season wraps, a source told People.com.
Although Sheen's recent arrest for a domestic violence incident involving his wife and his subsequent stint in rehab have overshadowed his career in recent months, the show's producers have publicly shown him their support.
However, a source on the "Men" set told People.com Sheen plans to quit his popular sitcom after the season finale's April 9 taping.
"Charlie's just done," the insider said. "And he's quietly telling his friends he's not coming back."
"Charlie's deal is only through this current season," Sheen's publicist Stan Rosenfield told People.com when asked to comment on the story.
Robin Williams rubs Down Under wrong way
SYDNEY, April 2 (UPI) -- American comic Robin Williams has drawn the ire of some Australians by calling them "basically English rednecks" on U.S. network television.
Williams ignited a kerfuffle with those living Down Under when he said on CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" that "Australians are basically English rednecks."
Williams, 58, who recently filmed "Happy Feet 2" in Australia, also joked about being heckled by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at a recent performance.
The Times of London reported Friday the prime minister responded on national radio.
"I think Robin Williams should go and spend a bit of time in Alabama before he frames comments about anyone being particularly redneck," The Times quoted Rudd as saying.
That didn't sit well with Alabama Gov. Bob Riley.
"I'm not sure if Prime Minister Rudd has ever been to Alabama," the London newspaper quoted Riley as saying. "If he has, he would know that Alabamians are decent, hard-working, creative people."
The Herald Sun in Melbourne reported Williams tried to patch things up with the Aussies, saying he was only making an observation about Australian accents that combine rounded English and drawling American sounds.
"I was just there for two weeks," he said on Fox FM's "Hamish and Andy" show. "Every time I've been in Australia it's been wonderful, I love it down there!
"Please let me come back to Australia without a cavity search, and if not I'd love to go to a strip club with you in New York."
Fey, Sidibe to be 'SNL' guest hosts
NEW YORK, April 2 (UPI) -- Tina Fey, Gabourey Sidibe and Ryan Phillippe have signed on as guest hosts for upcoming editions of "Saturday Night Live" in New York, NBC announced.
Fey, a former "SNL" cast member and writer, is to return to the sketch comedy series April 10 when teen singing sensation Justin Bieber is scheduled to be the musical guest.
Phillippe, whose film credits include "Gosford Park," "Crash" and the upcoming "MacGruber," is to make his debut as "SNL" guest host April 17. Recording artist Ke$ha has been booked to perform that evening.
Oscar-nominated "Precious" star Sidibe is to serve as host on the April 24 installment of "SNL." The musical guest that night is MGMT, NBC said.
