Auction firm to pay Haim death expenses

MINNEAPOLIS, March 14 (UPI) -- A memorabilia auction company announced it would cover the funeral costs for actor Corey Haim with money it raised by selling his belongings.

Startifacts, with offices in Minneapolis and Las Vegas, made the announcement after Haim's family posted a plea on his Web site seeking fan donations to transport his body to Canada and cover the funeral.

Startifacts owner Michael Kronick said he would give Haim's family a check for $20,000, before the auctions even end, TMZ.com reported.

The star of "Lucas" and "The Lost Boys" was found dead Wednesday in the apartment he shared with his mother. He was 38.

A cause of death has not been determined.

His funeral has been scheduled for Tuesday at the Steeles Memorial Chapel in Thornhill, Ontario.
