Best known for his Tony Award-winning performance in "The School for Wives" and for supplying the voice of the title character in the animated film "Walt Disney's Robin Hood," Bedford, 75, is set to play the role of Lady Bracknell in "Earnest."

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival produced a staging of the Victorian-era play about mistaken identities in 2009, directed by and starring the renowned stage veteran.

Additional cast members and the creative team for the New York production of "Earnest" are to be announced shortly, the Roundabout said.
