Wrestler Hogan lauds would-be senator

HARTFORD, Conn., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Professional wrestler Hulk Hogan said U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon is a "gracious" woman devoted to helping her community.

The Hartford (Conn.) Courant said Saturday that Hogan, 56, had many kinds word for McMahon, wife of World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon, well ahead of her planned 2010 run for a Connecticut seat in the U.S. Senate.

"She's brilliant. She's a very gracious, very smart lady, and her intent and her agenda has always been to help the community and be plugged in and be involved,'' Hogan said of the Republican official. "Inside or outside that wrestling world that the McMahons have created, Linda McMahon is a great person."

Hogan, who earned fame with the World Wrestling Federation, had less flattering words for Vince McMahon and World Wrestling Entertainment.

"My philosophy is different than the WWE model where Vince McMahon will ride someone until they drop. He will shoot them and eat them," Hogan told the Courant. "A transition must be made between new stars and the old.''
