Comedian Lange hospitalized with ailment

TRENTON, N.J., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Representatives for Artie Lange said the comedian was hospitalized in New Jersey with an unspecified ailment.

Lange's camp confirmed in a statement the 42-year-old comedian, known for his part in radio star Howard Stern's Sirius-XM radio program, wants to keep details of his hospitalization a secret for the time being, E! Online reported Saturday.

"We can confirm that Artie is in the hospital," Lange's camp offered. "Artie has chosen to keep all information on this matter between him and his doctor. There will be no further comment."

E! Online said Lange last appeared on Stern's show in early December and recently has canceled multiple stand-up comedy dates.

Lange was charged with driving under the influence in 2009 in connection with prescription sleeping pills and reportedly has a history of substance-abuse issues.

"Entertainment Tonight" said Stern's radio program is currently on a holiday break, but is scheduled to return to the air on Monday,
