NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- U.S. journalist Lisa Ling, former co-host of "The View," is set to return to the daytime chat show next month for two live shows, ABC said Friday. Ling was a regular panelist on the program from 1999-2002.
She will appear on the shows airing Oct. 5 and Oct. 6, and will be seated alongside current co-hosts Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd, ABC said.
Ling previously returned as a co-host on "The View" May 27, 2003 and made three guest appearances in 2008 since vacating her chair on the show.
She is now a correspondent for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and CNN.
Ling's sister, Laura Ling, was one of two journalists detained and released this year by North Korea.
"I'm thrilled to be mixing it up with the women again. I'm hoping that some serious debate ensues," Ling said in a statement.
