Bryan Singer eyeing 'Excalibur' remake

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Hollywood filmmaker Bryan Singer is developing a remake of the classic King Arthur picture "Excalibur" for Warner Bros., Variety reported.

Singer's films include "The Usual Suspects," "X-Men," "Superman Returns" and "Valkyrie."

He is producing and may also direct the remake of "Excalibur," the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

The original 1981 film adaptation of Thomas Malory's book was directed by John Boorman and starred Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, Patrick Stewart and Ciaran Hinds.
