BROOKSVILLE, Fla., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Florida talk radio host Bob Haa is under investigation for allegedly making incendiary comments on the air, the U.S. Secret Service confirmed.
The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times said Haa is accused of making threats and racist comments about U.S. President Barack Obama during the Friday morning broadcast of his "Haa Wire" show on WWJB-AM 1450 in Brooksville, which reportedly sparked complaints from listeners.
"We're looking into what was allegedly said," John Joyce, special agent in charge of the Secret Service's field office in Tampa, told the newspaper this week. "We have yet to determine what was actually said that day."
Joyce told the Times he couldn't disclose any other details about the investigation.
"There's one fruitcake in town out there trying to start all these rumors," the newspaper quoted Haa saying as he insisted Friday's show was about healthcare, not Obama. "I would never stand for anyone threatening the president. We do not have that kind of edgy talk on there."
