Chmerkovskiy, 29, said between the dancing couple's involvement in the ABC dance competition and a limited run in the Broadway production "Burn the Floor," he and Smirnoff are simply too busy to get married now, People.com reported Saturday.
"We don't plan (the wedding)," Chmerkovskiy said. "We're (working) 14 hours a day. This is our life right now."
Smirnoff, 31, said the couple's involvement in "Burn" until Aug. 16 has been an amazing experience despite how it has impacted their wedding plans.
"The only thing we've decided is next year in June," Smirnoff said. "We were going to pick the place, but we never actually had the time. (But being on Broadway) is amazing and we love doing it, so we don't feel like we're missing out on the wedding dress fittings."
Smirnoff told People magazine that she and Chmerkovskiy, who got engaged in December, are not rushing into their wedding.
"As long as we're together, tying the knot is a plus, it's something extra," she said.
