NEW YORK, May 28 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Lindsay Lohan's father denies allegations he threatened to kill his girlfriend and himself if she left him.

Michael Lohan faces misdemeanor charges of aggravated harassment as a result of a police report his girlfriend Erin Muller filed March 18.

Newsday quoted Lohan as saying Wednesday Muller had been manipulated by a friend into filing the report.

He declined to discuss the incident in detail, but insisted: "I literally did not threaten to kill Erin or myself at any point ... I think I'll be totally vindicated," the newspaper said.

Lohan is scheduled to appear in court regarding the matter June 10.
