'Sting,' 'Valley' set for Bryant Park fest

NEW YORK, May 21 (UPI) -- HBO says its 17th annual Bryant Park Summer Film Festival in New York will feature screenings of "The Sting," "Dog Day Afternoon" and "How Green was my Valley."

Presented by Time Warner Cable in association with the Bryant Park Corp., the free outdoor movie series is to take place on Mondays at sunset June 15 through Aug. 17.

Also included in the lineup are "Breaking Away," "Kramer vs. Kramer," "Harold and Maude," "The Magnificent Seven," "The Defiant Ones" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

"This free outdoor film series, which runs for two months, is an extraordinary setting for film lovers in New York City and brings an inspired sense of community to the whole city," Harriet Novet, regional vice president of public affairs for Time Warner Cable's New York City region, said in a statement.

"HBO is so pleased to have Time Warner Cable join this year as we continue our history of presenting the classics on the big screen. There is no better place for New Yorkers to be on Monday nights during the summer than in Bryant Park," added Bill Nelson, HBO's chairman and chief executive officer.
