LOS ANGELES, May 16 (UPI) -- Actor Jamie Foxx says amateur singer Kris Allen should hold his own in the final round of the U.S. TV series "American Idol."

The Oscar Award-winning actor, who recently served as an "Idol" mentor, said during a TV appearance while Allen is "understated," his folk-pop singing is something to be behold, E! Online reported Friday.

"Kris really sort of swooned me," Foxx said during a recent "Ellen DeGeneres Show" appearance. "Ya know, I'm a macho man, but he was singing and I was like, oh my goodness."

"I was like, 'Dude, you had me floating for a minute.' So I told him I would really, really love to do a record with him because he's sort of understated."

E! Online said Foxx also offered some advice to "Idol" singers, particularly Allen's fellow finalist, Adam Lambert, regarding potential burgeoning musical careers.

"I told all of them -- especially Adam because I think Adam has this thing," Foxx said. "He has to be ready for that ride because if he gets the right record, he is going to go stratosphere."
