Friend: Fawcett's German care traditional

NEW YORK, May 12 (UPI) -- Farrah Fawcett's close friend Alana Stewart says the cancer treatment the U.S. actress sought in Germany was "nothing hocus-pocus."

Stewart was interviewed for segments to air on the "Today" show this week.

During the chat, she was asked to address rumors Fawcett underwent radical experimental treatment during her 2 1/2-year battle with anal cancer.

"It's very traditional treatment for Germany," Stewart told "Today." "They go in through your main artery and they go into the organ and they inject chemo directly into the tumor or tumors. You know, into the organ. And he's been doing it for 15 years. It's very standard procedure for him to do. They're starting to do it now in trials here. But it's nothing hocus-pocus. They're not crazy, alternative things. They're actually medical things. You know, by medical doctors."

Fawcett, 64, is best known for her work on the iconic U.S. television show "Charlie's Angels."
