Teresa Teng's wax figure gets new look

HONG KONG, May 6 (UPI) -- Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has marked the 14th anniversary of Teresa Teng's death by dressing the singer's wax figure in a new cheongsam.

Chang-fu Teng, Teresa's brother, and models dressed in her signature style, were at Madame Tussauds for Wednesday's unveiling of the well-known Teresa statue in its new costume -- a spectacular white sequin frock with pink butterflies, which was based on the original cheongsam Teresa wore during her 1977 concert tour of Japan.

"We are honored to be able to further enhance the Teresa Teng experience for her legions of fans from around the world at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong,"

Bret Pidgeon, general manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Shanghai, said in a statement that thousands of admirers have paid tribute to Teresa since 2001, "and we are certain that they will enjoy her 'new look.'"

"My little sister Teresa loved the stage and most importantly she loved her fans," Chang-fu Teng said. "The cheongsam that Teresa's wax figure now wears is a replica of one of her favourite gowns and through this spectacular costume, Teresa will continue to dazzle her fans from all around the world."
