LOS ANGELES, April 30 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Kelly McGillis has disclosed she is gay and looking for a female companion.
The twice-divorced mother of two is best known for her roles in the films "Top Gun," "The Accused" and "Witness."
Asked on the Internet show "Girl Rock!" if she wants to date a man or a woman, People.com said the single 51-year-old actress replied, "Definitely a woman."
"(I'm) done with the man thing. I did that. I need to move on in life. It's a part of being true to yourself. That's been a challenge for me," People.com quoted McGillis as saying.
"(Coming out as a lesbian was) an ongoing process from the time I was probably 12," she said. "I had a lot of things happen that convinced me that God was punishing me because I was gay."
McGillis is now in rehearsals for a stage production of "The Little Foxes" in Pasadena, Calif.
