EDINBURGH, Scotland, April 13 (UPI) -- Scottish pop star Annie Lennox says she may not be able to perform a full concert again, following surgery to release a trapped nerve in her back.

The Scotsman newspaper in Edinburgh said the 54-year-old "Sweet Dreams" singer recently completed six months of physiotherapy and is expected to return to the stage next month for a charity performance at the Cannes Film Festival to raise money for AIDS research.

"When I had the surgery, I didn't even know if I would be able to walk again properly. My foot is still not right -- it is kind of permanently numb. And it is a strange thing to live with, really," the Scotsman quoted Lennox as saying. "I have been doing physical therapy and I still don't know if it will ever be back to normal again. ... I don't think I could do a normal concert any more at this point in time.

I am able to sit at a piano, and I function and I can stand. But I don't think I am at the stage where I could."
